WILDBull 2.2 - Important Information!
*MINOR* upgrade. I decreased the size of the executable program to free up
more memory for use by your text editor and also made the program more
informative where users reported an area was vague. It still consumes a
great deal of memory, so if you are using WildEdit, you will need to have
a minimum of 550K of free memory available before you start WildBull
to be able to shell from WildBull to WildEdit for creating your text files.
*An entirely new version of WildBull is in the works which incorporates
the text editor into the program itself. Should be finished by early '93.
If you are upgrading from 2.1, just copy the executable file WBULL22.EXE
to your WildBull directory and delete the file WBULL21.EXE. No other
changes are required.
If you are upgrading from 2.0, all you have to do is place the version 2.1
WBULL21.EXE file in the current directory you have 2.0 in, plus the file
WBULL.KEY and you are good to go. Otherwise, delete your current version
and place this new version in that directory.
*NOTE* If you are a registered user of WILDBull you can call my BBS for your
key file. The key file included in this package is a <DEMO> key
(non-expiring).
[ Other Important Notes ]
Upgrading from 1.6 or older version
With the new update to WILDBull (2.1), you have a couple of extra options to
configure to be ready to use it. It's simple and will only take you a moment.
Step 1.
DELETE THE FILE WILDBULL.CFG! Then execute WILDBull. It will install the
correct configuration files you need for the 'Bull to operate properly. Of
course, you will have to configure it to match your system and preferences.
Step 2.
DEFINING EXTERNAL STYLES
When you select CONFIG at the Main Slider Menu, you are now presented with an
additional option - External Styles. Select this option and enter in up to
20 name (DOS VALID NAME FORMAT!) for the styles you have created in WILDStyle.
If you only have 1 or two, just press Enter through the rest of the options
and you will be asked if you wish to save it.
Step 3.
USING EXTERNAL STYLES
When you elect to GENERATE your display file you are now presented with 3
new options. Number one, the ability to use any text file on your system
to generate the display file from. Enter the path, then the filename (or
just press ENTER for a pick list of files available on the path you just
entered - then use the Up/Down/PgUp/PgDn keys to choose a file, then
Enter to select it). The text file is left AS IS so you can use it again
or update it for future use.
Next 2 options: Use INTERNAL Styles or EXTERNAL styles. Internal styles
are built-in to WILDBull and the Externals are those you have created using
WILDStyle. Move the highlight bar to the option of your choice and press
Enter. It looks the same as before after that until you are finally
presented with the name of the style you would like to use (you entered
these in Step 1, above). Move the cursor to the one you want and hit
Enter and your display file will be created.
*NOTE*
Registered users of WILDBull can have up to 20 defined external styles.
Non-registered versions will only allow 2.
